  • ps_3010 This is the first thing we noticed when we got Katie to the beach in Taroka -- black bear tracks -- adult and cub.

  • IMG_1460 A couple of days later I spotted her with both cubs at the end of the cove. I was able to drift down close to shore in the dinghy and get a few shots of her and one of the cubs, the second cub was very shy and stayed hidden most of the time.

  • ps_3024 We like to beach comb to see what kind of "treasures" we can find. We headed down the arm in the dinghy to check some things we had spotted on the way in the day before, we had noticed several very large plastic bags piled on on the shore. Imagine our surprise when we found a helicopter on the beach! They were doing clean up work and would be loading the trash bags onto the large barge that we had just spotted being towed into the arm. While having the beaches cleaned of debris spoiled our beach combing it was certainly nice to not see large amounts of plastic bottles and other debris littering the area.
