2707

  • Crossing the Gulf
  • Capt Scott Hamilton
  • Galen
  • Dale
  • S/V Jan Maarit at the dock in Sitka on Thursday the 21st. Capt Scott preparing for his next leg as Galen and I head to our next adventure.
  • ps_2665 Kodiak ahead. 0730 on Friday the 15th, about 45 hours out of Seward.
  • ps_2666 Thunderhead building northwest of us as we approach Kodiak
  • ps_2669 Kodiak Harbor, 1015 on Friday morning.
  • ps_2673 Jan Maarit at the fuel dock in Kodiak
  • ps_2674 Headed back to our slip, Dog Bay, Kodiak
  • ps_2675 Galen's favorite position. He was especially happy on Wednesday when we needed to take the Genoa off the headstay with the bow moving through a large arc as we ran through 6-8 foot seas.
  • ps_2681 Sunday the 17th at 1244, just a couple hours out of Kodiak heading 095T to Sitka.
  • ps_2686 Sunday the 17th at 9:15PM. Seas still lumpy but the weather was super.
  • ps_2689 Sunday sunset
  • ps_2701 Mon the 18th at 6:51PM Grilled pork chops, brussel sprouts and yams from the kitchen of Capt Scott. The seas must not be too bad here, we're not having to hold our plates in place. No idea what the pirate scowl from Galen is about.
  • ps-2703 It's just before 8AM Tuesday morning, chef Scott whipping up some pancakes. The picture is level, it's the boat that's crooked. For most of the trip we had beam seas rolling us and Tues was the day of big swells from the south which makes it a challenge to cook without making a mess of the galley.
  • ps_2705 Oh yeah, fried Spam and hotcakes!!
  • ps_2707 Tues the 19th at 11AM.
  • ps_2710 Just started my Noon to 4PM watch on Tue the 19th. I got the hat after doing some flying for a Discovery Channel program called "NOW - No Oppurtunity Wasted". Not a bad motto to live by, thank you Scott for giving me this opportunity to sail with you on the Jan Maarit. I had a great time and gained valuable experience.
  • ps_2714 My bunk in the v-berth. Luckily for me we were starboard tack so I could wedge up against the hull and pull a couple seabags next to me to hold me in place as we rocked and rolled eastbound.
